The Early Days

1908

Brokerage opened

Founder Jukichi Moritou began brokering eyelets and snap fasteners in a corner of the Yamano Bag store in Utsubo, Nishi-ku, Osaka.

1935

MORITO SHOTEN CORPORATION established

After MORITO SHOTEN CORPORATION was established, sales routes were expanded all the way to Hokkaido. Then export and purchasing departments were added, as MORITO paved new inroads into the overseas market.

1963

Renamed MORITO & CO., LTD.

The company name was changed to MORITO & CO., LTD.
Around this time, the Osaka Head Office Building was opened.
Operating as a general trading company for apparel and footwear, the company earned a reputation as one of the industry’s largest trading companies with annual sales of 8 billion yen.

1976

Renamed MORITO CO., LTD.

The company name was changed to MORITO CO., LTD. with the hope of growing into a global specialized trading company, while honoring the legacy of the MORITO name.

1977

MORITO INDUSTRIAL CO., (H.K.) LTD. (currently MORITO SCOVILL HONG KONG CO., LTD.) established [China]

1983

KANE-M,INC. (currently MORITO NORTH AMERICA, INC.) established [the U.S.]

1985

MORITO(EUROPE)B.V. Established [Netherlands]

1987

ACE INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY CO., LTD. established

1989

Stock listed on the Second Section of the Osaka Securities Exchange

MORITO went public on the Second Section of the Osaka Stock Exchange, laying the foundation for expanding operational bases across Japan as well as to the U.S.A., Europe, Asia, and beyond.

2001

WAH KIN METAL PRODUCTS MFG. CO., LTD. (currently MORITO(SHENZHEN) CO., LTD.) acquired and made a subsidiary of MORITO INDUSTRIAL CO., (H.K.) LTD. [China]

2003

KANE-M SHANGHAI CO., LTD. (currently MORITO SHANGHAI CO.,LTD.) established [China]

2008

Business/capital partnership formed with the Kuraray Group, making Kuraray Fastening Co., Ltd. an equity-method affiliate

2008

MORITO celebrated its 100th anniversary

KANE-M DANANG CO., LTD. (currently MORITO DANANG CO.,LTD.) established [Vietnam]

KANE-M (THAILAND) CO., LTD. (currently MORITO TRADING (THAILAND) CO., LTD.) established [Thailand]

2012

・MYANMAR REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE (currently under MORITO APPAREL CO., LTD.) opened [Myanmar]

・KANE-M, INC. (currently MORITO NORTH AMERICA, INC.) MICHIGAN BRANCH opened [the U.S.]

2013

Stock listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange

MORITO’s stock listing was moved to the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange due to market integration.

2014

・MATEX INC. acquired

・A two-for-one stock split of common stock conducted

・SCOCILL FASTENERS (GSG FASTENERS, LLC; currently MORITO SCOVILL AMERICAS,LLC) acquired [the U.S.]

2016

Stock listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange

2017

MORITO SCOVILL MEXICO S.A. de C.V. established [Mexico]

2018

･ MORITO KANTO LOGISTICS CENTER opened [Saitama]

･ MANEUVERLINE CO., LTD. acquired

2019

The company was split into MORITO CO.‚ LTD. (a pure holding company) and MORITO JAPAN CO., LTD. (an operating company) due to the transition to the holding company structure.

2020

Kurumin certification obtained based on the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children

2021

Nomination and Remuneration Committee established

2022

･ The 8th Mid-Term Management Plan (FY 2022 to FY 2026) formulated

･ Stock listing moved to the Prime Market on the Tokyo Stock Exchange due to market reclassification

･ MORITO JAPAN CO., LTD. as the splitting company transferred its apparel business to MORITO APPAREL CO., LTD. and transportation business to MORITO AUTO-PARTS CO., LTD.
